CHERRY Some of you who have been friends of SHE for a few years may well remember our handsome boy Cherry. As a tiny kitten, he and his siblings were removed from his mother. All of his littermates sadly died of hunger, leaving only Cherry behind. He was found by a kind lady at about 6 days old and she looked after him before bringing him to the Haven. Cherry then thrived and grew in size and personality; the SHE team began to look for his forever home. He found a wonderful adopter in Cairo where he lived happily, but unfortunate circumstances would take his adopter out of the country and not in a position to bring him along. So Cherry returned to the familiar surroundings of the Haven and a new search was launched. It wasn’t long before another adopter was found for him, a seemingly lovely local young woman. However, things were not exactly as they seemed, as Cherry was returned to SHE a number of months later along with a bunch of bizarre complaints that are so strange that they aren’t worth mentioning. The search for an adopter started again, this time resulting in Cherry leaving Egypt for the UK, where he was adopted to a lovely couple in a rural part of Scotland. Cherry has been there ever since, for the past 2 1/2 years, described as a friendly and loving boy who loves human company and to rest in his humans’ laps. However, this family also has other cats and dogs. Over time, Cherry has become somewhat possessive of his humans. He isn’t able to get along with the other animals anymore and after trying numerous remedies and approaches to deal with the situation, it’s felt that the best option for all involved is to find a new home for Cherry. So we are on the hunt once again to find a place for Cherry to call his own. Our handsome boy is approximately 5 years old now. He needs to be the only feline/canine member of the household. Cherry is accustomed to being outside, so his new home would ideally have a either a catio, a fully cat-secured garden (with the special fencing), or be in a rural setting away from roads. If none of those options are available, we would consider having Cherry as an indoor cat if there was plenty of space, opportunities for him to be up high (such as purpose-built shelves of different heights, or a “cat highway”), and windows to observe the outside world. Cherry is a healthy cat, with his immunisations all up-to-date and regular flea/worming treatments. He has been neutered and microchipped and his adopter has had his teeth checked annually. He currently lives in the Scottish Borders, about an hour from Glasgow or Edinburgh. However, if you are elsewhere in the UK, and are serious about Cherry, it may be possible to sort out logistical arrangements. All our our adoptions are subject to a successful home check (conducted via videocall) and an adoption fee. ***If you would like to offer him a home or learn about him, please contact Walae Besada, his rescuer, via PM (private message).
